How does it work?

When you purchase the Writing Well, you get 240 PDF files containing 2-sided black-line masters of writing activities (10 per thematic unit). One side has a writing prompt; the other side has assessment criteria. We grant you the right to copy these masters, so you can print as many copies as you like and distribute them in your classroom.

Do you provide any suggestions for using these writing prompts?

Yes. Each thematic unit comes with a "table of contents" that lists all of the specific writing prompts in the thematic unit. A suggestion for using each writing prompt is included.

In addition, we include a teacher's guide on the CD-ROM. This teacher's guide contains helpful suggestions both on using the Writing Well and on assessing writing.

Can I coordinate the Writing Well with other products?

Of course.

If you use Grady Profile, then you can use a scanner to capture the student's work (the front side of the activity sheet). And you can use the assessment capabilities of the Grady Profile directly (in lieu of using the back side of the activity sheet). Or, you could use the back side and scan it in, too.

If you use Student eJournal, you can work with the Writing Well in several ways. You could enter selected Writing Well prompts into Student eJournal as assignments and let students with keyboarding skills use eJournal instead of the front side of the activity sheet. And you can always scan the back side of the work sheet and make it an eJournal Graphic Attachment.
