When you download Toot! from our web site, it provides a 30-day free trial. During this period it is generally functional you can create your portfolio, fill it with your information, etc. However, during the trial-use period, some functions (mainly those involved with distributing your portfolio) are disabled.
Once you purchase your Toot! license and enter the registration code, Toot! becomes fully functional.
If you do not purchase Toot! before the end of the 30-day free trial, most of the features of Toot! will be disabled. You will still be able to open your portfolio and view its contents, but you will not be able to create a new portfolio or to make any changes in your current one.

Yes, indeed. The Macintosh and Windows versions of Toot! support a single, common file format.
Since both Toot! and Tooter (the free viewer for folks reviewing your Toot! portfolio and/or résumé) are available in both Macintosh and Windows versions, your computer preference (and the preference of people who examine your Toot! portfolio) aren’t a concern.
Passwords are optional in Toot! If you opt for a password, you may also create a set of questions (password hints) which you can use if you forget your password. Both passwords and hints are encrypted in the portfolio for added security. And you can add or remove the password at any time.
You can make data (at the field, page and section levels) as either universal or private. If the information is universal, it is visible from both Toot! and Tooter; if it is private, it is not visible in Tooter. This allows you to include information in your portfolio that you don't want anyone else to see.

Top… beauty is in the eye of the beholder …
Carolyn Wells, The Rest of My Life, ch. 16 (1937)We believe that a résumé or portfolio is most effective when the facts are presented in a truthful, straight-forward, and attractive fashion. We think that excessive glitz not only detracts from the message, but that it can signal to the reader/viewer that the presentation may be hiding something.
We’ve tried to strike the right balance between form and content in Toot! You may feel that we’ve missed the mark; if so, we'd like to hear your views.
And we certainly understand that if your profession includes a focus on the visual arts, a more artistically sophisticated approach is called for, particularly if you post your Toot! portfolio on the Web. For that reason, we’ve tried to make the HTML files of the web-packaged portfolio easy to manually edit.
